Babies grow incredibly fast. One moment they’re tiny newborns in your arms, and before you know it they’re sitting, standing, and taking their first steps. While parents capture many everyday moments on their phones, professional photos help preserve these milestones in a timeless way.

So when are the best stages for a professional baby photoshoot? The three most popular milestones are:

• Newborn (5–14 days old)

• Sitting stage (6–8 months old)

Each stage captures a special phase of your baby’s development. Here’s a quick guide on why these moments are worth documenting. Newborn Stage (5–14 days old)

The newborn stage is one of the most precious and fleeting moments. During the first two weeks, babies are typically sleepier and more comfortable being swaddled, which allows our photographers to capture those adorable newborn poses.

After the two-week mark, many babies become more alert and may be less comfortable staying swaddled for extended periods. That’s why we recommend scheduling your newborn session within 5–14 days after birth whenever possible.

Of course, every baby’s situation is different. Some babies may arrive early or may need a little more time to recover from jaundice or other conditions. In those cases, the best time for your session will depend on your baby’s comfort and development. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out — we’ll be happy to guide you.

Sitting Babies (6–8 Months Old) At around 6–8 months, babies are usually at their peak chubbiness, with those adorable rolls and big smiles that parents love. During this stage, many babies are able to sit independently, which allows for a wider variety of poses during the shoot.

Compared to newborns, babies at this age are also much more interactive. They respond to sounds, play with simple props, and often show their bright personalities through smiles, giggles, and curious expressions — making this stage a very fun one to capture.

The Big One (10–11 Months Old)

You might wonder — why not wait until exactly 1 year old?

By the time babies reach 1 year, many are starting to walk or move around quickly, which can make it challenging to keep them in the setup you’ve chosen for the photoshoot. Scheduling at 10–11 months is ideal because most babies can stand with support but are still happy to stay in place long enough for beautiful, posed photos.

This stage is full of personality and milestones — babies may be waving, clapping, crawling, or even trying their first steps. These interactions make the photos more lively and memorable, capturing not just their looks but their unique character at this age.

We also understand that first birthdays are a big deal. Many parents want these photos ready in time for invitations, decorations, or the party itself. Coming slightly earlier ensures you’ll have the photos before the celebration.
